Summary of Negotiation skills test

The WeTest Negotiation Skills Test evaluates candidates’ ability to effectively negotiate with business partners in real business scenarios to achieve the company's desired results.

The company's financial success depends on its representatives' negotiation skills, and this test determines candidates' ability to negotiate deals professionally to ensure they are aligned with the company's benefits.

Our experts designed this test to be practical rather than just focusing on candidates' academic skills. It exposes candidates to realistic workplace situations with suppliers, customers, partners, and internal stakeholders and asks them to decide which negotiation strategy would work best in each situation.

The candidates will have to answer 16 multiple-choice questions in 10 minutes. In our system, we have provided a facility for test takers to try four questions before the actual exam, which will reduce tension while answering the questions.

Once an individual finishes the test, employers will receive a complete report on how the candidate performed. The results are accurate, and employers can ensure they hire the right candidates who can negotiate easily on a win-win basis and meet all negotiation principles.

About the Negotiation skills test

What makes every organization successful over time is how its employees can negotiate with customers, colleagues, business partners, and anyone the company interfaces with.

That's why knowledgeable employers use our test, because good negotiation skills help keep partnerships healthy and businesses moving forward.

What sets this assessment apart from other aptitude tests is that it evaluates negotiation ability through scenario-based questions grounded in realistic commercial and organizational contexts.

Candidates must demonstrate judgment in areas such as:

  • When to reveal or withhold information
  • How to respond to bluffing or pressure tactics
  • How to sequence negotiation topics effectively
  • How to unblock stalled negotiations
  • How to balance firmness with collaboration
Rather than testing memorized frameworks, the test assesses applied negotiation judgment; the same skills professionals use in meetings, calls, and contract discussions.

What does the Negotiation skills test measure?

Our Negotiation Skills test is designed to measure every aspect of how candidates manage negotiation sessions in real workplace scenarios.

Unlike other practical tests, this isn’t just about theory; it challenges candidates to ensure employers will hire strong applicants who make informed decisions, find the best solutions for both partners, and professionally handle tricky situations.

Strategic Negotiation Thinking

Professional negotiators know how to shape and manage negotiation meetings because they are able to see what others don’t realize and think based on a solid strategy due to their critical thinking abilities.

This test evaluates whether candidates know when to insist, pause, or pull back. Our Negotiation Skills test will check if candidates can spot unique opportunities to close a deal like a pro.

Communication and Influence

The test looks at how people communicate under pressure. Do they ask the right questions? Can they handle objections without making things worse? Strong candidates guide the conversation without making anyone defensive, listening carefully, and nudging the discussion toward a positive outcome.

Trade-Off and Concession Management

Candidates with strong negotiation skills know the key to pleasing everyone around the table is following a basic rule: Negotiation often requires give-and-take.

The assessment checks if candidates can offer something small that means a lot to the other side, while keeping their own position strong. For instance, agreeing to extra support in exchange for a longer contract.

Conflict Handling and Emotional Intelligence

Negotiations can get tense. The test shows how candidates react when others get aggressive or frustrated. Do they stay calm, think clearly, and respond professionally? People who do well can keep emotions in check and maintain control, even when things get tricky.

Ethical and Sustainable Deal-Making

The WeTest Negotiation Skills assessment has been designed to ensure that employers hire people who value long-term agreements and not just winning at all costs.

Our test favors people who aim for fair and lasting partnerships. The most successful negotiators understand that in business, trust and relationships are what count; thus, they avoid shortcuts that will provide an immediate advantage but will harm credibility or relationships in the long run.
